Objectives/Focus
issues of the SMC
|
1. Enhance global
understanding of Sclerotiniaceae epidemiology, ecology, and
host-pathogen interactions.
2. Promote
collaborative, cross-crop research on disease forecasting and
management strategies.
3. Strengthen
global coordination for monitoring pathogen diversity, fungicide
resistance, and climate-linked disease trends.
4. Expand
communication and outreach to practitioners, advisers, and
researchers through symposia, webinars, and digital platforms.
5. Support
early-career scientists and foster a diverse, collaborative,
international community of researchers.

About the SMC
|
The
Sclerotiniaceae Subject Matter Committee (SMC) brings together
researchers working on Botrytis, Sclerotinia, and
Monilinia, three globally important genera that affect a wide
range of crops. Diseases caused by members of the Sclerotiniaceae
continue to challenge producers through significant yield losses,
complex epidemiology, wide host ranges, fungicide resistance risks,
and limited genetic resistance in many crops.
The purpose of
this SMC is to strengthen international collaboration, facilitate
knowledge exchange, and mobilise the community around shared
scientific and extension priorities. The Committee provides a
platform for researchers at all career stages to exchange new
findings, discuss methodological developments, and coordinate global
activities that advance understanding and management of
Sclerotiniaceae diseases.
The SMC also serves to support ISPP goals by
promoting communication, education, and cooperative research,
including the organisation of symposia, online activities, and
contributions to ICPP sessions. |
