Summary of the Teaching Subject Committee activities since 2003
 
Our subject committee focused on one big event for the five years period for the between our Congress.  This project involved organising and hosting an online teaching symposium in 2006.
 
The symposium had the theme “Active Learning in Plant Pathology”.  It ran over three weeks and saw 12 papers presented along with three major forums.   Over 200 people formally registered for the conference, from all parts of the world including many European countries, North and South America, Asia, Africa and Australasia .

Summary of the Teaching Subject Committee activities since 2008

 

Our subject committee focused on organizing a special session on Teaching Plant Pathology for the 2013 ICPP meeting.  The session will include five twenty minute presentations and one poster.  The topics will include the following:

 

·         Teaching Plant Pathology for undergraduate student in China, opportunity and challenge

·         Outcomes based learning and active learning techniques for plant pathology classes

·         Virtual labs and other uses of technology in plant pathology courses

·         Knowledge transfer outside universities

·         Negotiating unfamiliar territory: Getting your plant pathology teaching innovations published
